Feminism (Why Do We Need A Term to Define People Who Support Equality In The First Place?)

Now I do know that this is a topic of much controversy and clash of opinions. This topic is always bound to attract lots and lots of hate in comment sections. However, I must continue as this is of the topics in which I felt there was great confusion and misunderstanding. I do realize I am not any Pandit nor anyone with a PHD (not yet, at least), but this is just what I personally feel about it, Just like the name of my blog goes, this is just whatever that goes on "Inside My Head" which I feel is worth telling the world.

Now, ever since I was 10 (in 5th grade) when I first knew about the word "feminism" from my social studies text book and read the meaning of it, I've always since then identified myself as a feminist. But even at that age I used to wonder why did we need a term like that to define ourselves in the first place? This doesn't even make sense! Love, equality, kindness, being helpful, etc are universally accepted moral values. Everyone is supposed to have those qualities, People who believe in love are not called any specific term such as lovists (even the idea of this seems stupid!), People who believe in kindness are not called any specific term, then why on earth do we need a specific term for people who believe in equality?! This is just as basic and essential as the other values a person should have. The fact that we even need a word for the group of people who believe in equality, shows just how messed up and unjust the world is.

I never understood as to why everyone hates feminists, I myself have had certain unhappy experiences in which I was ridiculed for simply identifying myself as one. In my place where I come from , there are still many people who BELIEVE that women are inferior to men. And I'm NOT talking about old grandpas and grannies, I'm talking about students in my own class. Not even my parents have supported me, when it comes to this issue. Ever since then I have researched so much about this topic, that I have so much to tell the world now, I highly doubt if anyone will bother to read this, but if any one person does and he or she is able to get some sense or inspiration out of this, it would mean the world to me. I've always wanted to write, specifically topics that could help improve the humankind in general, so that we can live in a more just and equality based world.

There are many who prefer to use alternative words for feminism such as egalitarian, equalist, humanist etc. I guess most of them dislike the word "fem". But I believe, the main point is that we do believe in equality of all genders, despite whatever term we use to define ourselves. The main thing is not how we define ourselves, besides, why should we ever feel the need to define ourselves? I really don't care whether you define yourself as a feminist or not, that is your wish...But if you still have a doubt or doesn't believe that all genders which include men, women and LGBTQ+  are equal, you seriously have issues , more than I can talk about. But one thing however you must keep in mind, whether you define yourself as a feminist or not, it is very disrespectful to speak shit about feminists, because the very reason, women are able to vote, have better educational opportunities, have right to birth control, complain against rape, right to divorce, get better employment and career opportunities is because of the Feminist Movement. Tbh, ALL the rights you have now (If your a woman) is because of this movement. So bashing feminists and enjoying all of your privileges at the same time is very ungrateful and meaningless at the same time. It would make more sense if you always stay in the kitchen, wear only feminine covered up clothes, forget about your career and be a stay at home wife/mother and then talk shit about feminism. Then I guess it would be alright for you to do so as your not using any of the privileges or rights which they've fought for you.  There are still several cultures especially in Asia and Middle East, in which women let alone the other genders are considered as second class citizens.. This attitude has to be completely eradicated as soon as possible so that our future generation of boys and girls, whether they be straight, gay, trans, bisexual, asexual or pan-sexual will be able to live happily and peacefully in the future. I know this sounds as some sort of fairy tale ending which is unlikely to happen, but I'm a person who believes that nothing is impossible, our world could never be a perfect heaven, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth trying, equality is always worth fighting for.....
